Built by a builder — not a software company

Toolie didn’t start in a tech office. It started at a kitchen table at 9pm, pricing a deck by hand after a full day on site — with a generic job app open in one tab, a health & safety binder on the bench, and NZS 3604 and the H1 schedules buried in PDFs.

The overseas apps were slick at admin but didn’t know a bearer span from a bracing unit, charged more every time you put on a chippie, and dropped out the moment you walked into a gib-lined new build with no signal. So we built the tool we actually wanted.
